ՇԵՆԱՎԱՆԻ ԱՐԿԱԾՆԵՐԸ | ADVENTURES IN SHENAVAN
Օգոստոսի 10-ին ականատես եղա, թե ինչ է անում «Դասավանդի՛ր, Հայաստան»-ը Հայաստանի աշակերտների համար ՝ այցելելով Լոռու լեռներում գտնվող Շենավանի միջնակարգ դպրոցը: Խթանելով որակյալ կրթությունը Հայաստանի համայնքներում՝ «Դասավանդի՛ր, Հայաստան»-ը հավաքագրում է համալսարանի շրջանավարտներին կամ արդեն իսկ կայացած մասնագետներին, վերապատրաստում նրանց և գործուղում համայնք՝ որպես Ուսուցիչ-առաջնորդներ։
Շենավան կատարած այցի ընթացքում ես կարողացա այցելել դպրոց և շփվել Ուսուցիչ-առաջնորդ Ռուբիկ Ստեփանյանի հետ, ով ինֆորմատիկայի ուսուցիչ է: Ես շրջեցի դասասենյակներով, ինչպես նաև հանդիպեցի որոշ աշակերտների և այլ ուսուցիչների, ովքեր, չնայած ամառային արձակուրդներին, եկել էին ինձ հետ շփվելու: Շատ տպավորված էի աշակերտների ձեռքբերումներով, որոնցից մեկը աշակերտների կողմից իրականացվող նորարարական ծրագրի իրականացման համար դրամաշնորհ ստանալն էր: Օգտագործելով այդ գումարը՝ երեխաները կարողացան ֆինանսավորել իրենց դպրոցի ՏՏ սենյակը: Շնորհանդեսի ընթացքում նրանք պատմեցին իրենց ապագա ծրագրերի մասին, այդ թվում ՝ մարզական վարժարան կառուցելու և 1988-ի երկրաշարժից խիստ վնասված դահլիճը բարելավելու անհրաժեշտության մասին:
Նրանց ներկայացումից հետո ես շփվեցի իններորդ դասարանցիների հետ և շատ տպավորված էի՝ հասկանալով նրանց արժեհամակարգն ու որակյալ կրթություն ստանալու ձգտումը։ Ես զգում էի, որ կարող էի լինել Շենավանի աշակերտներից մեկը։ Շատ տխուր էի Շենավանից հեռանալիս, բայց գնացի ՝ վստահ լինելով, որ այս ծրագիրը և «Դասավանդի՛ր, Հայաստան»-ի՝ երեխաների կրթական լուսավոր ապագային ուղղված գործունեությունը ծառայում է կարևոր նպատակի՝ ներդրումներ կատարելով այդ երեխաների մեջ:
Հաջորդ տարվա ընթացքում ցանկանում եմ իրազեկել մարդկանց «Դասավանդի՛ր, Հայաստան»-ի կատարած աշխատանքի մասին և գումար հայթայթել, որպեսզի օգնեմ այս հրաշալի հաստատությանը: Հուսով եմ, որ կկարողանամ բավականաչափ գումար հավաքել աշակերտների չորս ցանկությունները ֆինանսավորելու համար ՝ նոր վարժարան, փողոցային խոտածածկ տարածք, դահլիճի նոր բեմ և հայերեն թարգմանված «Հարի Փոթեր»-ի շարքի բոլոր գրքերը։ Հետաքրքիր է, ինչպե՞ս կհնչեին Հարիի կախարդանքները հայերենով։ Ցանկանում եմ շնորհակալություն հայտնել «Դասավանդի՛ր, Հայաստան»-ին և շնորհավորել կատարված լավ աշխատանքի համար:

On August 10th, I was able to witness what Teach For Armenia has done for the students all over Armenia by visiting Shenavan Basic School in the mountains of Lori. Teach For Armenia is dedicated to providing teachers, known as Teacher-Leaders, who are either recent university graduates or professionals, to help students all over Armenia have the ability to receive an education.
During my visit to Shenavan, I was able to visit the school and talk with Teacher-Leader Rubik Stepanyan, the school’s IT teacher. During the tour, I was able to view the classrooms as well as meet some of the students and other teachers, who took time off from their summer breaks to greet me. I was very impressed with the students’ accomplishments, such as winning a grant to implement a Student-Led Innovation Project. Using this money, they were able to fund an IT room for their school, which is where the students showcased their Powerpoint presentation that they had created from scratch. In the presentation, they talked about their future plans for their school, including a much needed sports gymnasium and improvements for their auditorium which had been severely damaged by the Earthquake in 1988.
After their presentation, I spent time with the ninth graders and was very impressed with their strive to learn and the value they placed on being educated. I felt like I could be one of them going to school in Shenavan. I was very sad to leave Shenavan, but left knowing that this program and all that Teach For Armenia is providing for these striving students is serving an important purpose by investing in these children.
During this next year, I plan to spread the knowledge of Teach For Armenia to others and raise money to help this wonderful institution. I hope that I can raise enough money to fund the students’ four wishes: a new gymnasium, an outdoor grass field, new stage for the auditorium, and an Armenian collection of the seven books of the Harry Potter series. I wonder what Harry would say in Armenian when casting spells? I want to thank Teach For Armenia profusely and congratulate them on a job well done.
