TEACH FOR ARMENIA’S
COVID-19 GUIDELINES
As an organization that primarily operates in rural Armenia and Artsakh, Teach For Armenia believes it is important to put into place COVID-19 guidelines in order to protect the wellbeing of the communities where we work. These guidelines are separated into two sections: 1) Guidelines that are mandatory for all staff, Teacher-Leaders, and Alumni-Ambassadors who participate in Teach For Armenia’s activities; and 2) Guidance that is highly encouraged, but is ultimately on the individual to uphold.
NON-NEGOTIABLES:
Staff members and Teacher-Leaders who have been fully vaccinated are obliged to submit the vaccine card to Human Resources. Alumni-Ambassadors who choose to attend events organized by Teach For Armenia and have been fully vaccinated are required to bring a photo of the vaccine card (or proof of a negative test).
Before visiting or moving to one of our partner communities (for work-related purposes), individuals must have either: 1) Proof of receiving the vaccine within the past 12 months; or 2) A negative COVID-19 test result; or 3) Evidence of an antibody test, demonstrating that you have recovered from COVID-19 within the past 6 months.
Upon arriving at one of Teach For Armenia’s partner communities, all individuals must wear a mask for a period of 14 days unless they have been fully vaccinated; Unvaccinated individuals who test negative or have recently recovered from COVID-19 must still wear a mask during this period.
Some overnight and mandatory events, for example the Teacher-Leadership Academy and Staff Retreats, may require testing for unvaccinated individuals. The Human Resources Team will inform teammates in advance.
All individuals must adhere to orders issued by the government (e.g. if Armenia’s MoESCS requires teachers to wear masks, all Teacher-Leaders must comply with the mandate).
When working in Teach For Armenia’s offices in Armenia, staff, Teacher-Leaders and Alumni-Ambassadors must adhere to the organization’s COVID-19 Armenia Office Guidelines; For Artsakh, please make sure to observe the guidance issued by the local government and the Regional Director.
If staff members, Teacher-Leaders or Alumni-Ambassadors show any symptoms (i.e. coughing, fever, body aches), they should refrain from going to the office and from meeting with other Teach For Armenia staff, Teacher-Leaders, or Alumni-Ambassadors for 14 days or until you get a negative test.
If Teach For Armenia staff members test positive for COVID-19, they must inform Teach For Armenia’s Human Resources Team and the manager that same day and refrain from attending the office or any in-person meetings for the following 14 days until you test negative; if Teacher-Leaders test positive, they will inform their Leadership Development Manager, notify the school principal, and refrain from going to school.
GENERAL GUIDANCE:
Individuals are encouraged to wear masks at all times when gathering with others.
When meeting in person, we encourage all individuals to practice social distance (i.e. avoid hugging, kissing, and handshakes while maining a distance of 1 meter or more).
Avoid gathering in groups larger than 20 individuals.
When gathering as a group, we highly recommend having everyone tested for COVID-19 prior to the meeting (unless you have been vaccinated).
Group gatherings should be hosted in well ventilated venues -- outdoor spaces are preferred.
In-person meetings and events should be limited to special occasions; Whenever possible, please meet online.
All staff members, Teacher-Leaders, as well as Alumni-Ambassadors who participate in activities organized by Teach For Armenia are required to submit a waiver agreeing to the conditions laid out in these guidelines. Failure to comply with the non-negotiable items may result in disciplinary action. It is our collective responsibility to observe the general guidance in order to protect ourselves and our community.
