Overview
Teach For Armenia is a two-year, leadership commitment in Armenia’s public education system, placing exceptional people where the country needs them most, and forming them through real responsibility.
This is not a short-term volunteer experience.
It is structured as a disciplined, high-expectation program that asks participants to teach, lead, and build alongside school communities in under-resourced regions, often in rural and border areas, where educational opportunity has historically been limited.
It is designed to:
Address immediate educational obstacles by bringing promising teachers and high expectations to classrooms that have been left behind, so children’s futures aren’t determined by their zip code, village, or family income.
Develop future national leaders through service by immersing participants in the realities of Armenia’s public systems, sharpening their judgment under pressure, and building the humility, resilience, and moral clarity that leadership in Armenia requires.
Create long-term systemic change across sectors by graduating alumni who carry this lived experience into education, government, entrepreneurship, civil society, and the private sector, bringing with them the skills to improve institutions, mobilize communities, and solve complex problems at scale.

After completing the two-year Teacher Leadership Program, Alumni-Ambassadors transition into diverse leadership roles across the education sector, public policy, and the corporate world. Statistically, 61% of alumni continue working in the education sector, with 35% advancing to serve as school principals or deputy principals. Additionally, 10% of alumni enter the corporate sector or become entrepreneurs. Through initiative partnerships like Teach For Armenia's Talent Bridge, alumni gain direct access to a unique pipeline for employment, internships, and fellowship opportunities across Armenia's top companies, non-profit organizations, and public government bodies.

Eligibility Overview
To apply, you must:
- Hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent by the program start date
- Be able to commit two years, full-time, including training and placement
- Be willing to relocate to a partner community, often in a rural or border region
- Be legally eligible to live and work in Armenia for the duration of the program
Teaching experience is not required. Pre-service training and ongoing coaching are part of the program.
A note on the two-year commitment. Teach For Armenia is designed as a two-year program, and we select candidates who intend to complete both years. Placements follow a 1+1 contract model: you sign for the first academic year and renew for the second. Leaving after Year 1 carries no financial penalty, but it does not constitute program completion.
