With the theme "Towards a Greener Vision, Towards a Greener Vision" Tumanyan Secondary School warmly hosted the Teach For Armenia educational foundation.
Under the banner "Towards a Greener Vision," Tumanyan Secondary School opened its doors to Teach For Armenia, local community members, and distinguished guests. Leading this transformative initiative were Vard and Susanna, two dedicated Teacher-Leaders from Teach For Armenia who have been driving change in the Tumanyan community.
The event began in the schoolyard with the unveiling of a commemorative pantheon, built through the joint efforts of students and community members. This structure honors fallen Tumanyan school students and community members lost during the recent war. Families of the fallen participated in the ceremony, having contributed to both the pantheon's construction and the planting of memorial trees.

While the primary goal was to honor fallen soldiers, the park also embodies values that Teacher-Leaders Vard and Susanna instilled in their students: environmental stewardship and community responsibility. The second phase of the event showcased the newly established eco-room and eco-corridor, spaces that reflect the school's commitment to sustainability.
We've looked forward to this day since our involvement in the community through Teach For Armenia. Our actions were planned carefully to bring us here. Today, our dream's realization is finally within reach. This achievement is thanks to our students and colleagues
Teacher-Leader
The event opened in the schoolyard with the dedication of a commemorative pantheon honoring fallen students and community members. Families, students, and guests participated in speeches and musical performances.
Students presented the story behind their dream room and displayed their work: a thriving space filled with plants and student-made crafts. A presentation highlighted their achievements and the school's renewed atmosphere.
In the renovated eco-corridor, students led a hands-on master class in paper recycling and flower planting. Attendees learned the recycling process and received notebooks made from recycled paper by the eco club.
After Teach For Armenia's Teacher Leaders arrived, things changed for us. We became more engaged and community-focused. We collectively decided to establish the eco-room. We also took part in various programs, showcasing our school and efforts. We achieved goals like getting recycling bins, creating the park, and fixing a school corridor. Our Teacher-Leaders guided us every step of the way. Our class quality improved, strengthening our minds and activities. Mentors encouraged curiosity, love, and unity
9th-grade student
The eco-room evolved into a versatile space for both learning and enjoyment. Students not only studied environmental science but also developed practical skills in plant care, crafting, and paper recycling. The renewed eco-corridor became a gathering hub where students could connect and collaborate on sustainability projects.

The entire project reflected students' unity and dedication to their eco club. Through environmental action, these young people proved that lasting values can take root in a community, improving daily life and unlocking potential that benefits everyone.
On August 10th, I was able to witness what Teach For Armenia has done for the students all over Armenia by visiting Shenavan Basic School in the mountains of Lori.
